Robert Houston Arnold (Bobby)
On January 16th, 2023, at the age of 84, Robert went to be with Jesus his Lord and Savior. He was a native of Baton Rouge and a resident of Central.
As a young man, graduating from Istrouma High, Robert joined the United States Marine Corps. He served 3 years and received an honorable discharge. After returning to Baton Rouge, he went to work for the EBR Sheriff's Office where he served 32 years. During this time Robert worked in the patrol cars, was shift lieutenant at the parish prison, and for three years was warden of the women's prison housed at the parish prison.
Robert loved the Lord with his whole heart and was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was blessed with a great sense of humor and a beautiful tenor voice. He loved spending time with his grandsons, and he always had a story to tell about his life and experiences.
After retiring from the Sheriff's office, Robert joined the St. Alphonsus Nursing Home ministry and served 20 years as a volunteer in nursing homes. He was always ready to sing and to share his faith with the residents. Robert truly had a life of service.
Robert is survived by his devoted wife of 59 years Janet Muller Arnold; his sons Robert Arnold, Jr. (Stacy) and Tim Arnold (Melissa); and his grandsons David Arnold, (Reagan), Josh Arnold (Angela), Austin Arnold (Jessica) and Hunter Arnold.
He was preceded in death by his parents Edwin Houston Arnold and Willetta McNeely Arnold and his brother John William Arnold.
Visitation will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home on Friday, January 20th from 12:30 to 2:30 pm. A religious service will begin at 2:30, with the burial following immediately at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
